What is it?
- The Undergraduate Double-Degree in Nursing (UDDN) is the result of an agreement between the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) and the Arteveldehogeschool (AHS), in Belgium
What are the advantages?
- The UDDN allows IPS and AHS students to receive diplomas from their home institution (IPS) and the corresponding diploma from the host institution (AHS).
- The UDDN aims to develop more international opportunities for IPS and AHS students and teachers.
How does it work?
- The UDDN will begin in the first semester of the third year with a joint online module for IPS students, followed by physical mobility during the first semester of the fourth year.
Who should apply?
- To apply for the UDDN, students must have completed their first year of the Nursing Degree Course and be enrolled at ESS/IPS in the second year of the course.
What is the selection process like?
- A minimum of ten (10) students and a maximum of twenty (20) undergraduate nursing students at AHS, Ghent and IPS will be admitted.

- Good command of written and spoken English (minimum level B1 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages - see here)

Additional information
- The application process is the responsibility of the students, who are also responsible for organising their transport, European health card (medical insurance), accommodation and meals, personal expenses and all other expenses incurred on their behalf, and any debts incurred during the period of study abroad. These conditions will be specified in a contract signed by the students and their home institutions.
- Students will pay tuition fees and other regular fees at their home institution.
- Regarding the registration procedure, students will benefit from all the privileges of candidates admitted to European mobility programmes.
- Each Higher Education Institution will award UDDN students their diploma, including the legal effects of the corresponding academic degree.
- The fee associated with the diploma application is paid at both the host institution and the home institution.
- The diploma will be issued in the national language of the home institution.
- ESS/ IPS students obtain their diploma from the AHS, Ghent after they have completed 240 ECTS, namely those from their own curriculum and those from the UDDN.
